The best thing to do to evaluate the banks offering reward checking is to read the reviews on depositaccounts.com. As long as your deposits are FDIC or NCUA insured, your money is safe.

Note that the rates and balance caps can change. I see that Evantage is dropping their rate to 3.75%, which is still quite good these days.

KevinKevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03576910288369216955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-775967109474059335.post-69214334962886402822010-11-04T22:39:18.451-07:002010-11-04T22:39:18.451-07:00Kevin! I was looking into possibly using Evantage.adamb.85https://www.blogger.com/profile/13056868235057086150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-775967109474059335.post-59786113024887014332009-12-09T23:01:54.537-08:002009-12-09T23:01:54.537-08:00Good question (about minimums for rewards checking...Good question (about minimums for rewards checking). I'm usually more concerned about the cap than the minimums, but generally the minimums are $100 or less. Click on the link I provided to find out more about rewards checking accounts, then click on a few to see the details.

Yeah, the rule of 72, widely written about by financial authors, is a handy shortcut to get a feel for the impact of various interest rates.Kevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03576910288369216955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-775967109474059335.post-43663412831610305092009-12-09T17:57:01.640-08:002009-12-09T17:57:01.640-08:00Thanks for the information Dad! Do the rewards checking accounts only work if you have at least $25,000 as your cash stash?
I never knew about the rule of 72...very helpful! :)Marisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15908613265523053304noreply@blogger.com
